In the News: Tin Building gettings its architectural details

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
New York YIMBY caught the team at the Seaport installing the iron work on the facade of the Tin Building. (That’s my pic from a week ago when they started adding those doohickies but I didn’t realize what they were doing till I saw the YIMBY story. And I have to note: no filter.)

AMFAR IN FIDI
amFAR held its annual gala at Cipriani Wall Street on February 5 and host Padma Lakshmi ate pasta with Heidi Klum, according to Page Six.

ASSEMBLY RACE ENDORSEMENT
The Trib reports that the Downtown Independent Democrats political club has endorsed Fidi resident Grace Lee for the former Sheldon Silver assembly seat, choosing her over incumbent Yuh-Line Niou. (The district runs south of Vesey and east of Lafayette, from river to river.) The primary is June 23. (This makes me realize that I have to start tuning into the City Council candidates…)

LOSSES TAKEN AT 56 LEONARD
From The Real Deal: “In the mid-2010s, German investor Ekkehart Hassels-Weiler dropped $131 million on four luxury penthouses in downtown Manhattan. The market was strong and the product, which included condos at 56 Leonard, was top tier. But when he sold two of his properties in 2019, he took an almost 16 percent loss, according to the Wall Street Journal — from $53 million down to $44.6 million.”
