Seen & Heard: In Memoriam for the “cancelled”

A MUSICAL TRIBUTE, WITH FINGER
My former student and now freelancer Lucien Formichella and his pals produced this funny/not funny stunt on Houston Street right before the Oscars, and since it features a prominent Tribecan, it is here for all to enjoy. Kids are so clever these days.

NEW ED FOR CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF THE ARTS
Seth Cameron, the co-founder of the celebrated artist collective The Bruce High Quality Foundation, has been named the executive director of the Children’s Museum of the Arts. From 2004–2007, Cameron served as creative director of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and he has taught both art theory and studio practice across a range of disciplines at the foundation and Cooper Union. His wife, Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, is the curator of contemporary design at the Cooper Hewitt.

MOTH WORKSHOP AT MUSEUM OF JEWISH HERITAGE
The Museum of Jewish Heritage will host the third of four storytelling workshops called Write Me on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 7p. “Write Me” (2019), a short film by Pearl Gluck, follows an older woman who joins other survivors in reclaiming the histories tattooed on their bodies. In part three of this four-part series, filmmaker Pearl Gluck and two-time Moth Grand SLAM winner Danusia Trevino (Wooster Group) will lead a workshop on writing and sharing short stories with an emphasis on personal narratives. Free; advance registration recommended.

LIEV, LOOKING SHARP
Bespoke tailor Stephen Seo, whose studio is on Broadway, dressed downtown neighbor Liev Schreiber for the new season of Ray Donovan, episodes 8, 9 and 10.

  1. Your former student and his friends are trivializing rape which is not funny. People dying isn’t funny either.

    • I could not disagree more. I thought the piece was exceptional and for me reflected the loss of time that passes when those in power abuse and don’t get caught. Bravo, bravo – I am a fan.

  2. Why use the now discredited word “cancelled” for those who have died? In today’s parlance to be “cancelled” is to be erased from visibility because of #MeToo.
