Seen & Heard: Resiliency open house

OPEN HOUSE FOR DOWNTOWN RESILIENCY
The Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency project, part of the city’s Economic Development Corporation, will host an interactive open house to help educate about the city’s plans for resiliency in Fidi and the Seaport, and also glean neighbor’s reactions. The event is from 4 to 8p — you can drop in any time in that window — on Monday, Feb. 24, at the Pace Downtown Conference Center, 157 William Street. Register here.

TREES COMING TO HUDSON SQUARE
The Hudson Square BID and NYC Parks planted an additional 28 street trees in the neighborhood as part of their urban forestry program. That brings the total amount of planted or retrofitted trees in Hudson Square to 278 since 2013. Parks estimates that those trees will sequester 122,320 pounds of carbon dioxide throughout the atmosphere, produce 14,178 pounds of oxygen and reduce the overall ambient temperature during the summer months.

HELP SPRUCE UP BOWLING GREEN PARK
The Downtown Alliance is looking for some extra hands (and maybe knees too) to help prep Bowling Green Park for spring by spreading compost on the planting beds on Saturday, Feb. 29, (Leap Day alert!) at 10a. There’s also a chance to plant pansies along Greenwich Street and Water Street on Saturday, March 7 at 10a. RSVP here.
