Miss your local studio? They are still working out – online

Local studios and gyms have taken their classes and their expertise online, and this is a great time to get in a workout from home, support them so they are here when we all get back, and maybe even try something new. (I did!)

DANCEBODY
DanceBody has a stock of on-demand classes on its website as well as two to four classes streaming live every day as part of DanceBody LIVE. Clients — new and current — can try it free for seven days and then subscribe by the month for access. The studio is adding new content to the on demand list all the time, and will have new dances launching April 1. Some of the new on demand workouts: Arms w/D-weights; Inner + Outer Thigh; Full Body Sculpt; Arms w/ Resistance Band; Throwback Signature from 2019; Throwback Full Out from 2019.

REAL PILATES
Real Pilates has both group and private classes running online, and has for several years since it offers its teacher training program online to students all over the world. Says Alycea Ungaro: “Our team has been extensively educated in how to cue and conduct a killer workout through the screen so you will sweat just as hard on your home mat, equipment or not. We promise!”
Go to the website, select your day, select your class and book. Real Pilates will send a link to the virtual studio.

Private sessions are also being offered live online and will have you working hard just as hard as you are in the studio. All open slots you see listed are live and ready to be booked.

ARC ATHLETICS
ARC Athletics, the training studio on Staple Street, is offering 30- and 45-minute Skype sessions with current and potential clients. One client used bottles for upper body weights and even a cast iron skillet. “There is usually a way to figure how to exercise at home without any equipment,” said owner Gene Schafer. To book, email info@arcathletics.com. And above is a freebie that he taped a few years ago with his brother. 15 with Gene! For questions on how kids can still work out with Parisi Speed School, email parisi@arcathletics.com.

YOGASPARK
YogaSpark is offering a variety of free classes on Vimeo and is offering live streaming classes online with owner Lauren Porat. The studio also has Instagram Live meditation sessions and updates there @yogasparkstudio.

THE NESS
The Ness is serving clients online — with or without trampoline — for both a physical and mental break. Clients can subscribe to the digital platform or book an online private by emailing hi@thenessnyc.com

VERAYOGA
VERAYOGA has shifted to online classes in an effort to keep its instructors afloat while they are unable to work in their normal capacity. They will have the usual movement-based flows, some STRENGTH workouts, YIN classes and meditations and will continue to add content daily.

NOVA STUDIOS
Nova Studios is offering clients, and anyone interested, online personal training via FaceTime or Skype. Sessions are 45 minutes and will be based on the client’s personal goals. At the end, trainers wil recommend a post-workout recovery routine. No equipment is necessary but if you do have access to equipment, trainers can incorporate it in your workout. Use the promo code noexcuses for 10 percent off, and book sessions here.

O-D STUDIO
Local trainer Oscar Smith has put together a series of exercises for men and women to do at home, so you can get into a guided fitness routine on your own. Find it here at this link.

SKY TING
Sky Ting yoga is hosting live-streamed classes on its website each day in addition to SKY TING TV. To gain access, sign up for the newsletter from the website, and also check for updates on Instagram @skyting!

MODERN MARTIAL ARTS
Modern Martial Arts — which has been in Tribeca for 20 years — is offering online classes live-streamed for members, both kids (ages 3+) and adults. “If there’s interest in the community, we would love to be able to open it up to new students as well,” said Mary Murphy. “It’s not the same as being able to attend in-person, but it is a great way to keep the kiddos active during the day and for adults to keep up their fitness habits they’ve worked so hard on.” Find the live classes at the studio’s Facebook group here.

YOGA VIDA
Yoga Vida has free pre-recorded vinyasa and meditation classes on its YouTube channel and 60-minute Instagram live classes every day. Classes are free of charge but any donation made will go directly to the operational cost of hosting classes and to our teachers. Donations can be made by venmo to venmo.com/yogavida. Please add the instructor’s name to the Venmo note. The schedule will be updated weekly, and is subject to change. Follow on Instagram and check this page for updates.
