In the News: More changes for 11 Hubert

YIMBY reports that a third iteration (above) of the five-story house at 11 Hubert is now under review by the Landmarks Commission — after being rejected in December for being “Darth Vader-like” (below). Previous residential projects by the architect, E. Cobb, have all been in Seattle or nearby, including a houseboat. This place will have 10 bathrooms, a basketball court and a sauna, as well as a live tree growing on the inside. (The big change since December seems to be the treatment of the first floor facade and its metal screen.)

The first iteration of the site was designed by local architect Bill Bialosky and Maya Lin in 2016, and at 20,000 square feet, would have been the largest single family home in Manhattan. Not sure if this still holds…
