Small workspace/bar proposed for Vestry and Hudson

The former Schoolhouse Electric space at 27 Vestry (or 177 Hudson) is scheduled to be what sounds like a workspace with an opportunity to drink called The Lost Draft. (The name gives me a little anxiety. I would have gone with The Last Draft or The First Draft or anything but a lost one.)

HOWEVER, the applicant failed to post notices on the building as required, so CB1’s licensing committee required that they come back for the June meeting and post in between now and then. There was one resident of the block on the Zoom meeting who said she had no particular objections other than the fact that no one knew to come. (And, she added, neighbors were a bit scarred by Tribeca Rooftop on Desbrosses, so they like to keep tabs on goings-on.)

The space is 1500 square feet and the applicant would create a cafe/tavern with a work/meeting space. The capacity is 74 people, and hours proposed are Monday to Thursday, 7a to 10p; Friday 7a to midnight; Saturday 8a to midnight; Sunday 8a to 9p. Despite the tavern description (which is State Liquor Authority parlance usually means beer and wine only) they are applying for a full liquor license. The plan is for 21 tables with 34 seats — no bar.
