Seen & Heard: Tribeca’s Kitchen on its way back

HONORING ANDY AND HIS KITCHEN
Tribeca’s Kitchen has added these moving notes to its window, and Andy Koutsoudakis’ son Andreas told me that they plan to reopen soon, with details to come this week. “I’m putting my heart and soul into the relaunch, which is challenging for all operators to begin with post-COVID, but even more so as I am tasked with capturing the love and inclusiveness of TK and my father.” Somehow I think he will be able to do just that.

LOOKED LIKE SUMMER AT SHAKE SHACK
In kind of looked like a regular old weekend at Shake Shack, with lines at the door and the pickup door.

LE DISTRICT MARKET CLOSED
The market at Le District, which was definitely open back in early April (though you could only use the door on the south side), has closed with no further notes on when it might reopen.

SUPERSONIC JETS??
J. and I both heard really loud jets fly overhead a couple evenings in a row last week — I caught sight of one way the heck up there, but for the most part you could hear them but not see them. J. managed to see both: “The jet flew over downtown from the northwest diagonally to the seaport yesterday and performed a little in-flight trickery. Thursday’s jet flew over the Hudson from the north.” Anyone got any intel?

  1. Where’s the social distancing at Shake Shack? I don’t see it in that photo. Five people all wearing masks (good) but clustered together (not good – where is the staff member to regulate?)

  2. The Le District market closed around April 1st, rather abruptly

  3. Was hearing the jets were part of a salute to ‘virtual’ fleet week

  4. I thought aircraft was not allowed to fly over Manhattan since 9/11. That noise was assaultively loud.

  5. Good luck Andreas. We will always remember your Dad.

  6. So happy to hear about Tribeca Kitchen! Best of luck Andreas! Can’t wait until we are back and we can come in to see you!
