Seen & Heard: Honoring those we’ve lost

WHITE FOR REMEMBRANCE
The Friends of Duane Park has replanted its gardens in all white to honor those the neighborhood has lost to the coronavirus. For the botanical fans among us, the plant varieties are: penta (named for its five pointed flower); vinca, aka periwinkle; “The Line” coleus in the entrance beds; and wandflower with periwinkle and coleus in the small annual bed behind the southern benches.

TARGET BOARDS UP ITS WINDOWS
Target has covered its windows along with many other storefronts in the neighborhood.

STEAK KITS TO GO FROM HOUSEMAN
Houseman is offering Hanger Steak Dinner kits this week, on Thursday, June 4, at the restaurant on Greenwich and Spring as well as for pick-up or delivery in Orient Village or Shelter Island on Friday, June 5. Each kit is designed to feed four and includes grass-fed hanger steak (32 oz. pre-cooked. You’ll re-warm it in the included herb butter–an easy and smoke-free maneuver); crispy potatoes with dukkah spice (2 lbs.); fresh Long Island asparagus (two bunches) with herb sauce. Add dessert and (if you’re in NYC) wine separately.

DINNER FROM THE PORCH AT FORGIONE
Marc Forgione was grilling and pouring margaritas this weekend. Follow him on Instagram to see what’s up next or check the website frequently.
