Seen & Heard: Eataly delivering east and north

EATALY TAKING SHOW ON THE ROAD
Eataly is now delivering not just to the city but to Long Island and Connecticut, bringing curated boxes of their specialty products door-to-door every Friday (and joining more than a few local businesses who have expanded their customer base east). They will put boxes together for you, sampling from each of their categories, or you can design your own. Items include pastas, produce, oils, meats from the butcher, wines, cooking kits and prepared foods. Eataly at Home is not a subscription service — you just order whenever you want. NB: there is a limited window for ordering, between the previous Friday at 3 and the previous Monday at 5. In other words, call this weekend for next Friday’s delivery.

16 HANDLES COMING TO CHAMBERS
The frozen yogurt chain 16 Handles is poised to open a new franchise on Chambers, next to the former Dirty Bird (and at the same address — 155, between Greenwich and West Broadway). More TK. And thanks to J. for the heads up and pic.

MUSIC TONIGHT IN DUANE PARK
Friends of Duane Park is hosting music in the park every Thursday from 6:30 till 8. Brooklyn-based one-man band Grant Swift kicked off the series last week.

  1. Why doesn’t the city close Duane Park to traffic for the rest of the summer. This could give The Hideaway L’Angelo, etc. more room to bolster their operations.

    • Because Duane Street is a public thoroughfare not a privateplaza for The Hideaway and Laughing Man, both atrocious with their crowds. No masks or social distancing, blocking or sitting along the sidewalk. I mean I know they don’t have seating cuz if that poorly located Citi Bike which should be on Greenwich Street’s wide western sidewalk sonewhere below No.Moore but the maskless crowding is ridiculous. Laughing Man has zero excuse for patrons sitting on docks maskless thus spitting aerosols into passersbys’ path when they’ve had a permanent half the year parking space cafe area for years. L’Angolo has outdoor seating on Duane and Greenwich thus is fine.
