Scanlan Theodore has emptied its shop and closed permanently

The Australian native Scanlan Theodore has cleared out its lovely shop on the east side of Duane Park, and is clearly closed permanently (it’s no longer listed on the website). (Thanks to F. for the pic.) I was in touch with them as recently as early June, when they assured me that the cardboard “for rent” sign on their storefront was just a head-fake for looters.

This from the store manager: “Yes we are sad to be leaving Tribeca, we love the area, but that space was always just a two-year pop-up, which we decided not to extend. We are open and trading at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, which is exciting, and are hoping to be able to open our Hudson Yards boutique soon. Flatiron is currently open by appointment only.”

The shop opened in October of 2018, taking over the former Shoofly space. They have several shops in Australia and three in the US.

The gals there were always so nice, and their winter display was always a gracious contribution to the streetscape. This will be a glaringly empty storefront. Their Flatiron store is open for private appointments only.
