SQUARE DINER COMING SOON
Many have been wondering about the plans at the Square Diner, so here’s the latest: Teddy Karounos said that while they are still working out the details, they plan to open after Labor Day with abbreviated hours and a simplified menu. Yay.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH THE BEAN LENS
The Anish Kapoor bean at 56 Leonard — or the blob to some — seems to be stalled out still (though pre-COVID they were making good progress) but it is still providing this great reflection, taken by F. They started installation in November and predicted they would be done in two months…

AIRE ANCIENT BATHS ARE OPEN!
I cannot quite figure out the method to the state opening regulations, but nonetheless happy to welcome back Aire Ancient Baths on Franklin, where I once spent what was an excellent and luxurious birthday afternoon with some great company. There are adjustments: steam rooms are closed, temperatures are taken at the entrance, capacity is reduced to 50 percent (that’s a perk!) and clients will be booked at intervals. They recommend massages without gloves, but if the client requests it, they will certainly don them. More hours and guidelines are here.

HOTELS COMING BACK – SLOWLY
The Four Seasons will open on Sept. 14. The Roxy reopened in early July. But The Frederick and the AKA Tribeca are still closed. Any other updates?
