Seen & Heard: Angels at 15 Broad

15 BROAD WILL FULFILL WISH LISTS AGAIN
Last year the good people at 15 Broad joined in a Salvation Army program that fulfills specific wish lists for New Yorkers in need. They answered 200 requests last year, and this year they are already at 220 but hope to do more. The families must apply and live at or below the poverty line; all of them live south of 14th Street. The effort, organized by Lissa Hussian, Jessica Grunfeld and Sallyjo Levine, has been fulfilling requests for everything from toys to bedding to tablets for school.

“One child asked for a toothbrush this year—can you even imagine?” Lissa said. “There’s so much need and we really want to get the word out.”

If you don’t want to shop but want to donate cash, the group at 15 Broad will do the shopping for you. You can also donate new clothing or toys, and the SA will distribute to families who did not sign up in time to secure an angel. The deadline is Dec. 12. Contact the effort here to contribute: 15BroadAngelTree@gmail.com

THEY’RE BAAAACK
ICYMI, the trees sellers are back at Washington Market Park, straight from New Hampshire. Looks like a smaller set up this year? Or maybe they are just getting started…

AND AT WHOLE FOODS…
…the trees are scheduled to arrive Friday.

THE GREENS WINTER VERSION AT PIER 17
The updated winter version of Pier 17’s rooftop dining pods called The Greens are sold out already, though reservations have yet to be released for dates past Dec. 6. New dates are released every Monday at 10a for the following week’s reservations. You have to order their food, and the pods require a $5 donation for weekday lunches and a $50 fee for weeknight dinners and both lunch and dinner weekends. Each cabin holds up to 10 guests and is heated. See the website for reservations.

  1. We’re so excited to announce we have sponsors for 260 children and seniors so far this year. We began 11 years ago with a handful of residents at 15 Broad Street and it’s grown bigger every year. Neighbors, you can shop from the comfort of your own homes and have it delivered to us if that makes things easier and safer. Please email 15BroadAngelTree@gmail.com for more information or to sign up to sponsor a holiday wish list. Thank you!
