Seen & Heard: A pop-up at A Uno

LAFAYETTE ON WEST BROADWAY
A pop-up gift shop — Lafayette NYC — has taken over the south side of A Uno on Duane and West Broadway for the season. Maryam Zadeh is a real estate agent from the Lower East Side, and a few years ago, frustrated that she couldn’t find curated, original gifts for her clients, she assembled some herself from producers she found at craft fairs. Things snowballed from there. She had boxes custom made in Crown Heights, and buys products from makers around the city — soaps, chocolates, pet treats, olive oil, sea salt. The name is after her favorite street.

PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS…
Another popup for the season — a thought depository. Really. They are collecting thoughts as an art experience. I can’t tell you much more than that, so someone report back. 359 Broadway, open from 3 to 10p.

INFINITY POOLS AT GOVERNORS
On the agenda this month at CB1: a liquor license approval for QC Terme, a super fancy spa with locations in Italy and France, that will take over three historical buildings on Governors Island next year. More details TK after I listen to the meeting, but this seems way out of the usual context for the island…

  1. Is the spa slated for BPC or Governors Island?
