Seen & Heard: Oculus closed in the wee hours

OCULUS WILL CLOSE IN THE WEE HOURS
As of this past Sunday, the Oculus is now closed between 1a and 5a,”to allow for maintenance and the safety and security of customers due to reduced traffic volumes.” For access to the World Trade Center PATH station, please use the Vesey Street or Fulton Street entrance via the North Concourse in the 2WTC Lobby. For PATH train access from Brookfield Place, you may exit via Brookfield’s upper pavilion to access the street. All other entrances will be closed. For elevator access, please use Elevator 23 in the 2WTC Transit Lobby.

APPLICATIONS FOR CB1 ARE LIVE
(Or any other community board in Manhattan you might want to join!) From the Manhattan BP’s office: “The Boards, the most grassroots form of city government, are pivotal in shaping their communities and work to enhance and preserve the character of the city’s many unique neighborhoods.” Applications close Monday, Feb. 1. Pro tip: The online application does not allow “sessions” — you must complete the application all at once — so make sure you review the questions first. More info here.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR GROUNDHOG’S DAY
Friends of Duane Park will hold their annual celebration of the ever faithful ground hog from 4 to 6 on Feb. 2, a Tuesday. More next week with details.

HOT YOGA AT HOME
The folks at YogaSpark on Duane have developed a Hot Yoga Dome, or the SparkDome — a portable at-home hot yoga studio that inflates in 60 seconds and reaches 105 to 110 degrees in 10 to 15 minutes. They come in two sizes, with or without a window, and start at just under $1K. See more info here and order one here.
