Seen & Heard: Jack’s Coffee is robbed

JACK’S IS ROBBED THROUGH TAKEOUT WINDOW
S. wrote that she was at Jack’s on Saturday morning when police were there, responding to a report that the store had been robbed. The police report confirms that at 9:40a, the barista, a 28-year-old female, said that an unidentified individual reached inside through an unlocked window and removed three iPads and two tablets from the countertop. The items were worth approximately $1750. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

TAKEOUT FOR $20.21
Restaurant Week, the longtime (since ’92) promotion of city restaurants headed by Tribeca Grill’s Tracy Nieporent for NYC & Co., is doing takeout this year, with meals for $20.21 through Jan. 31. See the neighborhood participants here — they include Gigino, Tribeca’s Kitchen, Locanda Verde, Anejo, City Vineyard, Khe-Yo, Roxy Bar, Ganso Ramen, Lekka Burger, Sarabeth’s, Serafina and Gran Morsi.

PIZZA FROM PEASANT
If you are up for a stroll to LES (they also deliver), Marc Forgione and his team at Peasant are now doing a pop-up pizza joint Friday through Sunday from 5 to 9 at 194 Elizabeth (just north of Spring). There will be three weekly sourdough pizzas made in their brick oven plus salads sold as a meal for two; place the order as early as the Monday before here.

LMCC AWARDS GOVERNORS ISLAND RESIDENCIES
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council recently awarded 22 free residencies at the Arts Center at Governors Island to artists and cultural practitioners whose ability to make work has been affected by the COVID-19 crisis — all in an effort to address impact of the pandemic on New York City’s cultural landscape. Open to artists, writers, cultural workers and creative practitioners living and working across the five boroughs, the initiative provides free, temporary studio space in the historic building at the ferry landing.

  1. I had the restaurant week menu from Tribeca’s Kitchen last night and it was delicious! Reminds me of The Clocktower’s famous chicken dish which makes sense as their new chef used to work there. Fantastic deal!

  2. 3 iPad’s and 2 tablets!! Is not an iPad a tablet?

  3. How awful Jacks was robbed! I hope the person working there is ok and wish we could do something to help!
