MATTHEW BENEDICT AT ALEXANDER AND BONIN
I know the galleries would much prefer in-person visitors, but the videos that a lot of them have started to make of current shows are great. This one: the trompe l’oeil framing, illustration, and decorative arts conventions in the portraits, seascapes and still lives of the artist Matthew Benedict, painted in gouache on wood or paper. Benedict’s works are included in the permanent collections of the FRAC de Picardie, Amiens; Dallas Museum of Art; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the NASA Art Program, Washington, DC.
