PLANNING FOR THE BIG ONE
The city will be holding a virtual open house on the Fidi/Seaport Climate Resiliency Master Plan on Feb. 25 from 4-8p To view the invite and RSVP click here. Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency is the city’s strategy to adapt Lower Manhattan to climate change for this generation and the next. As part of this effort, the City is working to identify the right resiliency projects for the Financial District and the Seaport to protect the area’s many essential functions for the region. “We will explore why the area’s low-lying topography, dense infrastructure, and complex waterfront and maritime uses make it particularly challenging to protect and adapt.”
MOVIE THEATERS CAN OPEN
Movie theaters will be allowed to open at 25 percent capacity starting March 5, with no more than 50 people per screening, Cuomo said Monday. Masks and assigned seating will be required, and theaters will need to follow state ventilation standards. I have a call in to Regal to see what the plan is there.
DOWNTOWN INDY DEMS ENDORSEMENTS
The Downtown Independent Democrats have endorsed candidates: for mayor, Dianne Morales; for borough president, Brad Hoylman; for Manhattan DA, Eliza Orlins; for comptroller, David Weprin; for public advocate, Jumaane Williams; for City Council, Christopher Marte.
BROAD STREET PARKING LOT?
Love how this pedestrian area is working out on Broad Street. Streets PAC retweeted these images, which would be laughable if this wasn’t so annoying.
Abysmal. Complete failure on the part of the current administration. Who are the candidates who want to change this? https://t.co/6FmvDsyCjb

Why DID endorse David Weprin is beyond me. He is a vocal and active foe of congesting pricing. A much needed change for NYC, especially downtown.
My thought, too. Weprin’s oppo to CP could be said to have a certain, albeit narrow, logic for his car-dependent, transit-averse, quasi-suburban district in eastern Queens. But It’s poison for transit-rich, car-suffering downtown. DID’s endorsement is akin to New York City’s congressional delegation endorsing Mitch McConnell.
