Seen & Heard: Electric Dandelions at the Seaport

WALKING TOUR EXCUSE
The Seaport has a display of 28-foot structures that resemble flowers in the daytime, and light up like fireworks at night. There are 10 of them scattered around Pier 17. The dandelions are steel and acrylic and designed by artist Abram Santa Cruz and LA-based art collective Liquid PXL. Electric Dandelions was first created at Lucidity Music Festival in 2016, and the sculptures have made tour stops at Burning Man, the Toronto Light Festival and Jerusalem Festival of Light.

ART AUCTION FOR CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Children’s Museum of the Arts’ 2021 Art Auction and Fundraiser Exhibition, Now is Not the Time, will go live on Feb. 25 on the auction platform Artsy. The fundraiser will include work from 40 artists including Faith Ringgold, Rashid Johnson, Eddie Martinez, Cindy Sherman and Baseera Khan. The title refers to the trend of abandoning arts education in the wake of covid and today’s social and political challenges.

MOCA COOKS
The Museum of Chinese in America is hosting a series of cooking classes, and the next is tang yuan — sweet rice balls — with Auntie Tina on Friday, Feb. 26, 4 to 5p. This is a special dessert for the lantern festival; Tina Yao’s recipes can also be found in the book Heirloom Kitchen.
