March 23, 2021 Restaurant/Bar News
Café Clementine, which closed its fan favorite spot on West Broadway and White in October, will reopen late spring or summer in the former Cornerstone space on Duane and Greenwich. This is great news in a season of renewal.
They will take the corner plus one window of the former liquor store — Tribeca Wines & Spirits which is now at West Broadway and Worth — at 325 Greenwich, giving them 700 square feet plus some of the basement. They will have some work to do to get it ready, but you can’t beat that corner.
The landlord, who bought the building from Peter Matera two years ago, is in the process of removing the stucco from the building and restoring it to exposed brick — hence the sidewalk bridge (see the before after so far below). The residential units upstairs will stay in place — they are rent stabilized.
That building used to house not just the liquor store but also Myoptics and Dudley’s Paw, all of which were kicked out when the new owner bought the building in the spring of 2019. Cornerstone left a couple years before that — in 2017.

Great news! Any idea when they’re opening and the building reno will be completed?
Opening in summer hopefully. Not sure about building facade, but it’s moving along.
really? Have not seen a worker there in months, if not longer
They are still waiting on building permits from the city as so many things about the space previously were illegal!
How are they waiting on the City when it seems like no permit applications have been filed, other than for the exterior work?
Any news on when Clementine will open? Doesn’t seem like there has been much movement. Thanks!
I checked in at the end of June, and they hoped that they would have permits in hand by now. The lease is signed; they are waiting on the landlord to file. So the goal post was Labor Day, but now maybe pushed back??
Came out of the barbershop next it this morning and the Clementine doors were opened and it looked like work started/was about to begin.
Thank you!
This is welcome sweet news.
what a wonderful update!!! I love their sandwiches and cookies and can’t wait to visit when they reopen!
Welcome to the block Cafe Clementine!
This is really great news. Best turkey sandwich on the planet and such nice people.
Love their soups can’t wait to come back to NYC and get my fill!
This is GREAT news! Columbine/Clementine has been my mainstay for years and years. I was so disheartened to see the old store close that I was going to call you to see if you knew how to contact Barbara.
Hi, Bruce, I agree with you. I know Barbara and can put you in contact. Are you a friend?
I was told the Barber shop is opening today Friday 2nd April, (Good Friday)……regards Sonia
Barbara and the Clementine Team are the best of the best. It has been hard to get through the pandemic without the soups, salads and sandwiches that have their special hand-crafted touch. Excited to have them back in the neighborhood!
