Live arts performances coming to downtown in May

It looks like the Downtown Alliance will be the first to put its toe in the water for live public performances — they have created a series of offerings for four days in May on the streets and parks of the Financial District. There will be a total of 30 short performances, each with an audience of 50 for now — though that may grow as guidelines change. There will be theater, music and what they are calling “contemporary” performances.

Of course as with all things pandemic, it is not simple!! But it should be very cool. Here are the details:

  • WHO: Downtown Alliance in conjunction with two arts organizations — The Tank and En Garde Arts
  • WHO 2: See the artists’ bios here
  • WHAT: Downtown LIVE – a series of 30 short (30 t0 45-minute) outdoor performances
  • WHEN: May 15-16 and 22-23 with performances running from noon to 8p
  • WHERE: on three stages — a covered loading dock at 4 New York Plaza; the 85 Broad Street arcade adjacent to Stone Street; and 1 Battery Park Plaza
  • HOW: Tickets are free but must be reserved. They will go live here on 4/19. Each performance will be ticketed separately but organizers may create some bundles.
