Frankly Wines looks to open the Vin Sur Vingt space

The owner of Frankly Wines plans to open a wine bar in the charming yet diminutive Vin Sur Vingt space, but after a rough year the funds are a little out of reach. So instead she is seeking donations to get it going.

“We are aiming for a Summer Opening, but we need the help of our loyal clients, friends and family in order to make this a reality,” owner Liz Nicholson writes on the website for Della’s, the name of the future wine bar. “As you could guess, the last year battered the hospitality industry. We want to bring Della’s to the neighborhood so we may have a place to reconnect over delicious glasses of wine, comforting small plates, all the while surrounded with friends old and new.”

Before she bought Frankly Wines, Nicholson was at Marea, the Michelin-starred restaurant on Central Park South, and ‘inoteca, the restaurant on Rivington which closed many years ago; she also ran a glass program at Maialino, which she hopes to emulate here.

“Named after my Italian grandmother, Della Covone, the menu will be simple plates with nods to the traditional family dishes of my childhood and the many food experiences in my travels throughout Italy,” Nicholson writes.
