Seen & Heard: Performance series in the streets of Fidi

DOWNTOWN LIVE TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW
Downtown Live, the free performance series sponsored by the Downtown Alliance, now has tickets open and ready to reserve. Produced by En Garde Arts and The Tank, the series will feature 36 30-minute performances running on May 15, 16, 22 and 23, from 12:30 to 8p. They will be staged at unexpected locations around the neighborhood, including a covered loading dock (4 New York Plaza), an arcade along the Stone Street Historic District (85 Broad Street) and a plaza with harbor views near The Battery (1 Battery Park Plaza). Reserve tickets and see the list of artists here.

PANDEMIC DREAMS INSTALLATION AT BROOKFIELD
A Dozen Dreams, an immersive theater installation of sets, lights, video and sound, will take place at the Wintergarden May 13 through May 30, Wednesday to Saturday from 2 to 8p, Sunday from noon to 5p. Timed tickets are available here. The audience will wind through a series of 12 rooms built as a labyrinth, with the playwrights sharing their dreams through audio and/or video.

TONY DAPOLITO POOL CLOSED THIS SEASON
Unfortunately the Tony Dapolito Pool will be closed this season due to construction that began in September 2020 — and sounds like may continue for a while. The Parks Department is reconstructing exterior sections of the recreation center and bringing the facility into a state of good repair. An expanded scope of work may be needed to stabilize the building’s west facade, which faces the outdoor pool. “We are in the process of identifying next steps and will report back to the community on any further possible impact to the pool.”

THE MAKING OF PIER 26
Hudson River Park has incorporated Carl Glassman’s photos of the construction of Pier 26 into an outdoor exhibit — the series of pictures are now mounted as a windscreen on the fence surrounding the last unbuilt parcel of land in the Tribeca section of the park. (Plus this way I can run Carl’s photos in the Citizen.)

  1. sad about Tony Dapolito Pool. It would be nice if they would do a pop up pool by pier 25 or 26.

  2. Hi Pam! What is going on at the Police Memorial at Battery Park. It looks like they are removing it.
