Dancing through the neighborhood

I happened to see one of these shots of kids from Downtown Dance Factory and asked the gals there if I could run them as a photo essay. Both the dancers and the neighborhood look amazing.

They were shot by photographer Hannah Marchetto as a tribute to the kids, who have spent the past year dancing in masks while trying to maintain and further their dance careers. Five of these kids attend LaGuardia High School as dance majors; one goes to BalletTech, a dance middle school; three have trained at the School of American Ballet; and one is headed to the dance program at University of Michigan.

In order from top: Lily Ching (13); Sadie Fraser (15); Ryan Berger (14), Sadie Fraser (15), Stella Wong (15); Stella Wong (15); Isabella LaRocca (10); Charlie Head (15); Willow McConnaughy (9); Sydney Morakis (10); Ryan Berger (14); Ava Edwards (17)

  5. Thanks for sharing these photos of these amazing kids. They’ve worked so hard, first dancing over zoom, and then in-studio in masks. We could not be more proud of their persistence, passion and talent, and are endlessly thankful to be a part of the downtown community in this amazing city!
