Seen & Heard: Whitney Community Day on Sunday

WHITNEY COMMUNITY DAY ON SUNDAY
In celebration of the completion of David Hammons’s Day’s End sculpture (thanks to A. for the cool pic from above) on the edge of the Gansevoort Peninsula, the Whitney will host a Community Day on May 16 from 11:30a to 6p to thank the community for their support of the project. Free timed-entry tickets for museum entry are available on a first-come, first-served basis on whitney.org. There will be free activities such as drawing and printmaking workshops on the building’s terraces, an installation on Gansevoort and free kids activity guides for spring exhibits.

MEDITATE ON THE RIVER
Jenni Kayne is hosting a meditation session on the Battery Park City North Esplanade near Chambers today, May 12, at 5:30. Meet at the store at 20 Harrison. The meditation will be led by Katie of Simply Meditate. RSVP to tribeca@jennikayne.com

MINIGOLF AT BROOKFIELD THROUGH MAY 27
There’s a seven-hole putt-putt course at Brookfield now through May 27. Hours are 11:30 to 7:30, and you can walk on or reserve after 4p the night before. Four person limit per party AND a five stroke limit per hole, so bring your best game.

THE FESTIVAL FORMERLY KNOWN AS TRIBECA FILM
Not sure if anyone has noticed this, but the Tribeca Film Festival is now formerly known as… Its new official title as of this year is simply the Tribeca Festival. I find this a little confusing, seeing as Tribeca means something else to me, but they are going with it! And ICYMI, the line up for outdoor events in the neighborhood has been announced. See the event listings for Brookfield and The Battery here.
