GOOD RENTS CALLING TO GALLERIES
The Times T section has a feature on the Tribeca Gallery District and the paradox between our zip codes’ status as among the wealthiest in the country and the deals some galleries are finding. I’m guessing the details on Towers Cafeteria came from the reflections of our own Joan Pantzer, but the writer doesn’t give credit.

NEW PRESIDENT FOR HUDSON RIVER PARK
The Trib has a nice feature on my old friend Noreen Doyle, who is now the president of Hudson River Park, taking over for Tribecan Madelyn Wils. She’s been involved in Hudson River Park since it was just a glimmer in the Westside’s eye. This shot is of the four presidents since the park’s founding in chronological order: Noreen, Madelyn, Connie Fishman and Rob Balachandran.

LANDLORD SUES CENTURY 21
Crain’s reports that Century 21’s landlord is suing the company for more than $3 million in back rent from the Cortlandt Street flagship. The complaint says the company still hasn’t completely vacated the space either and owes rent through this month.

MINI STATUE COMING OUR WAY
France is sending a replica Statue of Liberty to the US, moving it from a museum in Paris to Ellis Island where it will be erected between July 1 and 5. The bronze state is called the “little sister” and is 10 feet tall and an exact replica of the original plaster model which is still preserved. –CNN

    “In November of last year, Grimm left the Bowery and, in March, opened at 54 White Street in a space that had been vacated by the Archive of Contemporary Music, whose 20-year tenure there came to an end in early 2020 after its landlord raised its rent, reportedly to more than $20,000 a month. A year into the pandemic, Grimm managed to secure a more preferential arrangement. ‘The opportunity presented itself, mid-Covid, to lock in a good rent,’ said Grimm’s New York director, Polina Berlin, calling it ‘a moment of opportunity in a stressful time.’ “
