BLUESTONE LANE WILL OPEN NEXT WEEK
Bluestone Lane, the Australian coffee & avocado toast chain that opened in March in Battery Park City, will open in the Summer’s Day CafĂ© space at 109 West Broadway next week. They are aiming for July 7. Already looks cute in there… More TK when they open.
FARM.ONE EXPANDS IN BROOKLYN
Farm. One, the very cool vertical indoor farm on White Street, is building another in Prospect Heights. This one will be 10,000 square feet and will grow rare leafy greens, herbs and edible flowers for restaurants and home delivery. (Plus their containers are reusable and their deliveries are zero emissions made by foot or bike.) The company has also built farms at the Institute of Culinary Education, Whole Foods Manhattan West, Project Farmhouse at Union Square, Eataly NYC Flatiron and OCTOBER in Nolita.

Good luck to them but so wish they would remove the sidewalk shed. That is one of Tribeca’s most beautiful buildings.
I fully agree. And I have tried to get someone other than the two of us to agree…
Ever since the much lamented closing of the Delphi so many years ago, their sidewalk shed has been “grandfathered” in to the property. Why would an owner in his right mind want to eliminate that gratuitous space? Particularly at a time when other restaurants on the street have taken over parking lanes, bike lanes and subway ventilator shafts to increase theirs?
PS I believe the paintings on the side of that building are not ‘authentic’ but were made for a movie shoot many many years ago. Notice that none of them name a product —
George, I think its very possible that the old Delphi restaurant building located at 109 West Broadway is authentic with regards to their painting on the facade. Here is the history for this wonderful building according to the Daytonian in Manhattan.

Thanks so much for the fascinating Daytonian in Manhattan history of the building — but alas it seems the origin and reason for the painted signs remains murky. I think Christopher Gray’s and Tom Miller’s 2017 exchange at the very end sums it up. It’s interesting that in the photo of Vogric’s Cafe the signs have not yet appeared . . that photo, taken from the elevated subway that barreled down West Broadway, mentions the date 1915. Certainly, though, I think my speculation about a movie shoot is quite wrong.
