Seen & Heard: Chanson progress

CHANSON COMING ALONG??
I almost can’t believe they touched a thing in the former Maison Kayser space — call me cheap but I would have wiped down the counters and opened up the next day — but things look like they are falling into place at Patisserie Chanson on the corner of Harrison and Greenwich. That *is* a pretty slab of marble…

TC STARTOVER DISCUSSION
This is weird, promoting an event about me, but Startover, the lifestyle thinktank started by Tribecans John Rolander and Srini Venkateswaran, will feature me in an online discussion on Tuesday, July 15, at 8p. The chat will be moderated by former PS 234 teacher Susie Rolander and will cover reporting in the pandemic, local business and the most interesting stories I have covered (or at least that’s what the promo says!). You can register here.

SKYSCRAPER MUSEUM OPENS THURSDAY
The Skyscraper Museum returns to public hours on July 15 at 39 Battery Pl. — open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6pm. Admission will be free through January 2022, but timed-entry reservations are required. The gallery reopens with the exhibition SUPERTALL 2021!, a survey of 58 skyscrapers worldwide that are taller than the Empire State Building, at 1,250 feet/381 meters, which the museum uses as a benchmark for supertalls. (Of course from a neighborhood perspective, a supertall is a lot shorter than that, IMO.) For directions and more information, visit skyscraper.org. For questions, email info@skyscraper.org or call 212.945.6324.

RETURN OF THE NEWSSTAND?
Seeing this cute little guy abandoned is a bummer. Here’s hoping its operator can return…
