Seen & Heard: Film festival sets dates for 2022

PLANNING AHEAD FOR FILM
I will forever call it the Tribeca Film Festival, but just for the record it is now the Tribeca Festival. And it has set its dates for 2022: June 8-19 at various indoor and outdoor venues throughout New York City. Submissions for the 2022 Festival will open on September 20, 2021, for all categories including feature and short films, episodic storytelling (Tribeca NOW), immersive, podcasts, online premieres, and branded entertainment (Tribeca X). I love that the outdoor element will continue next year.

DUANE PARK LAMP POSTS GETTING RENO
The Friends of Duane Park are scraping, priming and painting the lampposts in the park, which were in pretty bad shape. They had hoped that the DOT would take on the job, and the Parks Department said the DOT *should* do it, but the DOT’s lighting department said they were no longer supporting historic lampposts, so the Friends decided to just do it themselves before they deteriorated any further. This makes me wonder about the state of the lampposts in Washington Market Park…

TINY’S IS CLOSED FOR MINOR RENOVATIONS
I did not hear from the Tiny’s folks themselves, but the website says they are closed for light renovations. It also says “See you in August.”

HOMEMADE BY MIRIAM SERVING BREAKFAST
Miriam, the to-go restaurant on West Broadway just south of Chambers, is now serving breakfast from 8 to 11:30a. There are croissant sandwiches, pita sandwiches, pastries and mini burekas — the baked savory pastries — served with hardboiled eggs and tahini.
