Seen & Heard: Tribeca rocks Duane Park

DUANE PARK NEIGHBORS NIGHT CONCERT
Duane Park’s last summer concert (the series will continue into September on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays) is scheduled for Thursday, August 26, at 6:30 to 8p, featuring classic rock from None the Wiser, with Tribecans Tony Reilly and Stephan Oppenheimer. The Friends is also promoting the dinner boxes at Homemade by Miriam on Chambers and West Broadway. You can preorder three options: Fox’s Box ($16), Ox’s Box ($15) and Kit’s Box ($10). (Or if you are me, you just get the meatballs, olive oil mashed and kale and chick pea salad every time.)

DAYCARE FOR CITI EMPLOYEES
J. got a notice that Citi is opening a Bright Horizons outlet for Citi employees on the first floor of its building at 388 Greenwich.

ANI RAMEN COMING TO BROOKFIELD
A. caught the name of the new ramen spot at Brookfield’s Hudson Eats (it was Flying Tiger Dumplings): it’s called Ani Ramen and it must be connected to what looks like a local chain in New Jersey. If you want a preview, there are two right across the river in Jersey City, including one at in *their* waterfront food hall, District Kitchen.

GOVS ISLAND ARTS THIS WEEKEND
There’s a bunch of arts performances this weekend on Governors: a dance performance from West Harlem Arts Fund at 1pm and 4pm in Castle Williams on August 29; there are theater performances for kids from Rising Sun Performance Company on the 28th and 29th, each day at noon and 3p; and it’s totally worth a stroll over to the south side by the Hills to see Rachel Whiteread’s installation called Cabin — a concrete cast of the interior of a simple cabin with bronze casts of discarded objects including bottles, cans and other refuse — some of which were sourced on the island itself.

  1. We attended the Duane Park event tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the band “None the Wiser.” What a talented group of musicians! Their Tom Petty covers, in particular, were superb. I could not find a website for the band, Would the Friends of Duane Park be willing to let us know how to get on the band’s email list?
    Thank you.
