Seen & Heard: Washington Market Park concerts are back

KIDS CONCERTS IN WASHINGTON MARKET PARK
The Friends of Washington Market Park will once again host their family-oriented concerts, with two dates scheduled for Tuesday afternoons in September: Sept. 14, with the Jonny Hirsh Band, and Sept. 21 with Astrograss (my fave — they have been playing in the park for a decade, since before they were big!). Concerts are from 4 to 5p. The raindate is the following afternoon. More info here.

FONDA ON ITS WAY
Looks like Fonda is making progress at the former Blau Gans/Savida space… Roberto Santibañez, who said he lives in the neighborhood (will have to find out where!), opened his first restaurant in Park Slope 12 years ago. He then opened in Chelsea and on Avenue B six years ago. He closed Avenue B temporarily in the middle of the pandemic, but then decided to move the liquor license down here.

SERVICES FOR HIGH HOLY DAYS
Chabad of Tribeca/Soho will host High Holiday services and children’s programming for the Hebrew year 5782 OUTDOORS in an open tent starting with Rosh Hashanah, Sept. 6 to 8; Shofar in the Park, Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 4p; Yom Kippur, Sept. 15 to 16. There are limited seats available in the tent, RSVP at chabadoftribeca.com/highholidays.

SEPTEMBER CONCERTS AT DUANE PARK
The concerts will continue at Duane Park as well — on the second and fourth Thursdays: Sept. 9 and 23, from 6:30 to 8p. Mark your calendars.

  1. The band that played at Duane Park last week — None The Wiser — was terrific!
