French fine dining coming to Greenwich and Laight

A French fine dining restaurant tentatively called L’Abeille is coming to the former Dig Inn space at 412 Greenwich at Laight. The applicant is Kuma Eats, and they do not have a chef yet, but at the August meeting of CB1’s Executive Committee they said they were in talks with a French chef who has been in the business for a couple decades. They have taken a 10-year lease with a plus-five renewal.

The restaurant is six months away from opening — they are aiming for Q1 or Q2 of 2022 — so stay tuned.

The plan is to have 40 seats plus another 14 at the bar and they have worked out plans with the condo board for a 12-seat sidewalk café with six tables.

The hours will be 8a to 11p during the week and till midnight on the weekends.

Dig Inn opened there in 2018 and over the years had some trouble with the upstairs neighbors for their loud music played while the cleaning crew was in there. As a result they were rejected in 2019 for a sidewalk cafe.

  2. Hope it’s more casual bistro style for families and not stuffy!

  3. We need a tribeca version of Lucien!
