Seen & Heard: We now have a Ghostbusters cinema, too

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE IS NOW THE IVAN REITMAN
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at 28 Liberty has been renamed the Ivan Reitman Cinema, after the filmmaker behind Ghostbusters and because the founder of the company loves Reitman’s movies. (And I think I am the last to know that Jason Reitman is his son!) They had a ceremony at the movie theater that included both directors. “As a wide eyed five-year-old breathlessly watching my first film in a packed theater of kids, I could only dream that this might be the magical path that my life would follow,” Reitman said. “Thank you for clearly demonstrating belief in the future of this art form by building a great movie palace – just blocks from the firehouse that the Ghostbusters occupy!”

HUNTER BIDEN SHOW OPENS IN SOHO
“’The Journey Home’ a Hunter Biden Solo Exhibition” opened at the Georges Berges Gallery on West Broadway last week. The Post loves this story.

TRIBURBIA STRIKES AGAIN
The new novel “Win Me Something” by Kyle Lucia Wu takes place in Tribeca, where the main character, Willa Chen, is the 24-year-old caretaker for 9-year-old Bijou Adrien. “An undercurrent of hazy resentment runs through the novel, which charts Willa’s nine months of nannying for the well-meaning but often clueless Adriens in TriBeCa. First she secretly tries on her boss’s clothes, and then, while out at a bar one night, she tries on her boss’s identity,” The New York Times wrote in a review.

THROW BACK THURSDAY
John Willenbecher unearthed this ticket from the Towers Cafeteria — now the Odeon — in one of his journals. (Joan and Arty Pantzer were the owners.)

  1. Went to the Alamo last weekend to see Dune (great movie BTW) and felt the theater was really nice. Theaters are small, but a lot of them. Clean, easy to navigate, etc. All around good experience. Did not try the food.

  2. I believe the ‘nun’ opposite the Towers Cafeteria ticket from John Willenbecher’s notebook is a photo-booth collage by the wonderful and today completely forgotten artist May Wilson. There is someone just waiting for a revival —
