In the News: A review for Shion 69 Leonard

PETE WELLS ON SHION 69 LEONARD STREET
The Times reviews the new incarnation of Shoji at 69 Leonard Street — now Shion 69 Leonard Street and helmed by chef Shion Uino with a $420 fixed price menu. It’s a rave review, noting that the sushi stands with the best in the world and that some of it is a “confection from another world” but that eating there is now a rich person’s game (duh). “Mr. Uino seems to have an intimate understanding of each aquatic species that enters his kitchen — its chemistry, its muscle structure — from the first plate of sashimi to the final piece of nigiri.”

TWO BRIDGES SITE SELLS
The Real Deal reports that The Chetrit Group is buying the Two Bridges development site at 265 South Street for around $100 million — the site where two especially ridiculous supertalls are planned to house 1300 units.

BUILDING THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE
There’s a new book out on the building of the Brooklyn Bridge, and CBS interviews the author — Jeffrey Richman — and in the process shows some amazing historic drawings of the bridge and the neighborhood, as well as footage from 1983 when the BB celebrated its 100 birthday.

GEORG BASELITZ AT LUHRING AUGUSTINE
The Times recommends the show up now at Luhring Augustine gallery on White and Sixth: Georg Baselitz: Prints From the 1960s.
