Seen & Heard: A new children’s store is open on Greenwich

NEW CHILDREN’S STORE IS OPEN
It’s nice to see this strip across from Whole Foods coming back to life. In the former Poke Green space comes Two Kids and a Dog — the second outlet for a family-owned Brooklyn children’s toy and clothing store. More TK on them in the new year.

NEW BAR OPENS AT PIER 17
A new restaurant/bar called Pearl Alley has opened at the Seaport on the ground floor of Pier 17. Coffee. Cocktails. Wine and riverfront views. The Seaport’s description calls it an “all-day dining destination… with an open-air design by Roman & Williams.” I’ll get over there at some point in the new year, but someone report back in the meantime — there’s no website and I can’t quite get a handle on the theme of the place.

NEW NAME FOR READE STREET PUB?
I am not sure what they are going to call the new Reade Street Pub (likely Reade Street Pub) but I think they should call it B in Ear Inn tradition. Work is moving ahead inside.

AND WE WONDER WHY WE HAVE A RAT PROBLEM…
Spotted on Staple Street and sent in by C. today. Gross.

  1. Love the new toy store, hope they can make it. Just watch your step when you make a right inside, there’s a 4 inch drop, hard to see in the green astroturf floor, they need to put a yellow strip on the drop or else a kid may lose a tooth one day.

  2. Speaking of the Seaport, I had my birthday dinner at Carne Mare last week (I’m an occasional carnivore) and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Great service, perfect meat — but not cheap. A worthwhile splurge.

  3. I believe the bar will be called Bar 135.

  4. Scalini Fedeli has a responsibility to the neighborhood to use secure containers for their trash. All restaurants must do this to curb the rat infestation.

  5. Had a drink at the Pearl Alley bar mid September when it first opened. Beautiful decor with water views. At the time, we were advised that there would be no table service, just pick up from kiosks/carts and open seating.
