Seen & Heard: New music from local kids

POP BAND BORN IN BPC
Teen drummer Etai Abramovich grew up in Gateway and went to PS 150 (and Salk middle school) and formed the band Laundry Day at Beacon High School about four years ago. Now the group of five young men is touring internationally, has three albums, 15 videos and is on tour in the US starting in March with a stop planned at Irving Plaza. The band has been compared to Brockhampton and is in regular rotation in our house. The video above is a new release; below is one of my faves from 2018, when they were 16.

BPCA WINTER EVENT GUIDE
There are too many events to list here, but to see the whole schedule of winter goings-on in Battery Park City, click here. There’s a movie series, a silent outdoor disco, a Valentine’s event, an art show and a lot of other events for kids and adults.

MORE MUSIC LISTS, THIS ONE FROM NOLA
The folks at the Grand Banks, who hail from New Orleans (and have a restaurant there), make a compilation every year, and this one features The Meters, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the New Orleans Nightcrawlers. The restaurant group has also taken over the former Holy Ground space underneath Bluestone Lane.
