A few updates from the Brookfield Place mall

J. sent a note, and the Brookfield Place folks got in touch, with updates on the mall and Hudson Eats. I’ll do the bad news first:

CLOSED

Parm
Officially closed, and its windows are finally papered over. UPDATE: they may have signed a new lease? But that location is still not on the website.

Sprinkles
Closed for good in Hudson Eats, and now boards cover that prime space at the top of the escalator.

Umami Burger
Definitely looks closed for good and no longer has this location on its website.

OPENED

Naya
From J: “Naya opened an outpost here a while back in the unfortunately named Fuku space, and it’s is a strong addition to Hudson Eats.” My shorthand: Middle Eastern Chipotle. (See our sampling of the beef shawarma over freekeh with baba ghanoush and assorted veg. $14 including tip.)

Le District
Counters are beginning to reopen inside Le District. So far, they’ve brought back seafood, cured meats and cheese counters and added several shelves of sauces and condiments.

Sauce Pizzeria
SkinnyPizza is out; Sauce Pizzeria is in, again with the wafer thin crusts. They’ve got a Mexican pizza and a hickory pizza, the latter with barbeque sauce.

Cicci Di Carne by Dario
Cicci Di Carne by Dario is the first entry in The Test Kitchen at Brookfield Place, which will host a rotating mix of chef-driven concepts on the plaza, just west of PJ Clarke’s. This one is a sandwich shop from what some call “the world’s best butcher” whose home base is in Tuscany. Think paninis, salads and butchers boards.

Ani Ramen
The ramen chain was scheduled to be open by now, but is now delayed due to omicron. The new estimate is late January. Stay tuned!

  1. Black Seed was “temporarily closed” yesterday at lunch time. The security person I spoke to was vague about when they would reopen.

  2. Since yesterday the Sprinkles space has been covered with a “coming soon” sign for Mah Ze Dahr which is a bakery with locations in the West Village and Midtown. Cookies!
