Seen & Heard: Governors Island development plans move forward

FOUR UNIVERSITIES TO VIE FOR GOVERNORS
Just before the holidays, the city chose four finalists for the development of the southeastern 34 acres of Governors Island, what they are calling the Center for Climate Solutions. (That makes it sound like a small building, but it is in fact a small neighborhood with buildings as tall as 22 stories and up to 4.3 million square feet of development.) The city along with the Trust for Governors Island got 12 proposals from a request for expressions of interest; the four finalists will now respond to a request for proposals this spring. They are: The City University of New York (CUNY) and The New School; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Northeastern University; and Stony Brook University.

YOGASPARK EXPANDS IN WESTCHESTER
The Tribeca studio, which opened its first outpost in Mamaroneck in 2013, has opened a third location next door at 108 Mamaroneck Ave. (Ours is open at full capacity for vaccinated people, as per city regs.) They also developed their own booking system, so you can pick your spot in advance.
