In the News: Metalheads on Warren

SLAYER ON WARREN
The Post reports that thrash metal guitarist Kerry King, the lead guitarist for Slayer and a collaborator with Megadeth, bought a triplex at 12 Warren (I call it the Flintstones building, but not sure anyone else does) for $3.92 million. “King — who recently said Slayer retired “too early” — also worked on the song “License to Ill” and “No Sleep till Brooklyn” with the Beastie Boys” — another Tribeca connection.

TIMBERLAKE & BIEL SELL AT 443 GREENWICH
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have sold their four-bedroom penthouse at the celebrity dorm that is 443 Greenwich for $29 million, according to the WSJ, and they are also trying to unload their Hollywood Hills home. You can see inside here at E!.

70 UNITS AT TRIBECA POINTE WILL STAY AFFORDABLE
Crain’s reports that the Battery Park City Authority and Rockrose, the developer of Tribeca Pointe at 41 River Terrace, will preserve the 70 affordable units (out of 340) in the building for another 50 years. The units are meant for households earning below 40 or 50 percent of the area median income, which is below $47,720 or $59,650 for a family of four. Everyone seems to be congratulating themselves on this, but is this the best we can do? Sheesh.

SOME HOTEL NEWS FROM FIDI
The AKA Wall Street Hotel is now a rental building known as The Howell, Crain’s reports. The transformation took six months, cost $8 million. And the Andaz Hotel has been sold at a discount: The Hakimian Organization sold the hotel portion of 75 Wall St., which has condos above, to Blue Sky Hospitality for $84.7 million, property records show, a far cry from the $125 million the company was seeking in March 2020.”
