Seen & Heard: Bar to open at Smyth Tribeca

DRINKING IS BACK AT THE SMYTH
More info TK next week, but for now: the bar at the Smyth Tribeca hotel, which for years was such a cozy spot (till it was redesigned and closed to the public by the former hotel operator, AKA) will open on Feb. 1. Stay tuned.

SUNDAY IN BROOKLYN IN MANHATTAN
Williamsburg fave brunch spot Sunday in Brooklyn opened at the Seaport yesterday in the former home of Cobble & Co. on the main drag there. Dinner coming soon, and in the meantime, hours are Monday to Sunday, 10a to 6p. 917-397-1638.

BALLFIELD FLOOD WALL NEARLY COMPLETE
The flood wall at the BPC ballfields is nearly complete, and they have already reopened the Warren Street sidewalk.

NEW WAYFINDING IN BPC
In other BPC news, I like their new wayfinding system. Their original one was put up in 1993, so they were ready for a refresh. The firm 212/Harakawa finished the design in 2019; they are just about finished with the installation. There are 200 signs, and one major goal was to let visitors know their cross street when they are on the esplanade.

  1. I’m not sure the BPC ballfield walls are actually done, are they? They look nothing like the rendings they had in the plans.

    • The plans you are thinking of were probably version A, which they abandoned in favor of a temporary and much cheaper solution that will stay in place until the bigger resiliency efforts are in place.
