WOLF PLAY AT SOHO REP.
“Wolf Play” by Hansol Jung will open at Soho Rep. on Feb. 2 and already the theater press is anticipating its opening. Vulture gave it a shoutout as one of the most anticipated plays of 2022. The theater company describes it as a “mischievous and affecting new play about the families we choose and unchoose.” Tickets are here.
FIGHTING THE DEMOLITION OF HISTORIC PENN STATION
Several Tribecans, including Hal Bromm, who sent me this video, are organizing against the city’s plan to demolish a big chunk of the blocks around Penn Station, taking with it several historic buildings — the Hotel Pennsylvania and the church of St. John the Baptist from 1872 among them. The final state hearing on the Penn Station Area Redevelopment Project is TONIGHT on Zoom from 5 to 8p if you want to lend your voice. Find the info to register here.
THE NEW THAI SLIDERS IS OPEN
Lil Chef Mama was scheduled to open just before the pandemic, and needless to say there were some bumps in that road. The Thai Slider offshoot is now open at 27 Cliff at Fulton/John. The actual little chef mama is Toon Lau, whose name is in fact Roongkant Preechathammarach, but she couldn’t trust me with the real thing. Will swing by soon to sample the menu and grab some pics.
MAKER&SON HAS DECAMPED
Maker&Son, the bespoke furniture company founded by Felix Conran, the grandson of Sir Terence Conran, has moved its showroom to 49 E. 10th St. Their original NYC showroom was on the ground floor of 55 White in a gorgeous space that was also Conran’s apartment. Guess it was time for a better work/life balance…
