Seen & Heard: Facade changes for 109 West Broadway

FACADE CHANGES FOR 109 BROADWAY
The Reade Street façade at 109 West Broadway will get some minor changes to accommodate the new basement bar from the Grand Banks folks — Holy Water. (Yes, it used to be Holy Ground.) The Pincus brothers proposed to put a recessed door with a porthole, using 60 Collister, Smith & Mills and the Whalebone Building as references, and CB1’s Landmarks Committee said fine. Now we just have to get that sidewalk bridge down.

PACE SEMESTER REMOTE TILL FEB. 6
Pace begins its classes today, but the first two weeks of classes will be remote — through Feb. 6. “This will allow us to both de-densify our campuses during the Omicron peak and also ensure that students who must isolate or quarantine can remain engaged with their courses.” On-campus events will continue in that period, with 50 percent capacity limits and no food. When they return, students will be required to be vaccinated and boosted.

AND IN OTHER COLLEGE NEWS…
Same deal at BMCC: students will be required to be boosted if they are enrolled in in-person or hybrid classes. Classes begin there on Jan. 28.

NELLY HAS CLOSED
I had never been in Nelly’s Boutique, for what that’s worth, but recording it here for the record: that’s one more empty storefront on Chambers.
