Seen & Heard: A new gallery for Harrison

NEW GALLERY + EVENT SPACE FOR 5 HARRISON
Aria Mahboubi and Tess Bjiere have opened A.M. Bjiere at 5 Harrison, an art gallery that will show work focused on material, form and experience. The space will also be used for events between exhibits. Aria received his B.A. from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. He worked as a corporate M&A attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for over four years prior. Tess is a visual artist who trained at Parsons School of Design. The first show is open now.

MEZCALI HAS OPENED IN FIDI
A new Cali-Mex eatery — the aptly named Mezcali — has opened at 83 Maiden Lane. The menu features a mix of classic burritos, tacos and quesadillas, plus an extensive cocktail list. More TK when I can go by. Till then, check out the interesting interiors…

ALEXANDER AND BONIN HAS MOVED TO SOHO
Alexander and Bonin, which opened at 47 Walker in 2016, is reversing the trend and moving to Soho to 59 Wooster on the second floor. Carolyn Alexander and Ted Bonin first founded the gallery, in 1995, in Soho, then moved to Chelsea before landing in Tribeca.

SOUTH STREET AND THE RISE OF NEW YORK
The South Street Seaport Museum has an exhibit up through the end of February that explores the critical role played by the Seaport and South Street in securing New York’s place as America’s largest city and its rise to become the world’s busiest port by the start of the 20th century. The exhibition showcases the Museum’s vast collection of works of art and artifacts related to the history of the Port of New York in the 19th century. Admission is free; 12 Fulton.

ASIAN JUSTICE RALLY ON SUNDAY
J. sent word that there will be a rally and a remembrance for victims of anti-Asian hate on Sunday at 2p in Foley Square. See more information on Facebook here. The rallies will be coordinated with others across the country by Asian Justice Rally and are scheduled for the one-year anniversary of the killing of Vicha Ratanapakdee in San Francisco.
