Seen & Heard: Whole Foods (and Christmas) is coming

WHOLE FOODS FIDI COMING…
I tried to get WFM corporate to give me a date, but they demurred. It looks pretty raw inside, but still, it’s closer than it’s ever been. The announcement first came around five years ago.

TWYLA THARP X FRANKLIN STREET
J. was so good to send this along: it’s a new PBS American Masters doc on Twyla Tharp, who came to Franklin Street in 1963, paying $50 a month for a loft so she could have space to dance. The doc is such a good watch. If you are only interested in the neighborhood bits, start at 4 minutes in, but if you have even the mildest interest in modern dance — really any kind of dance — watch the whole thing. Spoiler alert: she ends up marrying the artist Bob Huot, whom she met while he was sitting on the stoop of 104 Franklin when she first came to see her 4th floor loft.

REMINDER: GROUNDHOG DAY IN DUANE PARK
Friends of Duane Park will host its annual Groundhog Day celebration with the making of an ice sculpture and refreshments from 4 to 6p.

27 PARK PLACE LOOKING SMART
The restoration/rehab/redevelopment of 27 Park Place / 24 Murray/ 111 Church is coming along and I think the building looks quite handsome with the scrubbed brick and black window frames. You’ll recall that it used to be white before and after the fire…

  1. Unrelated to Whole Foods but same location: WHO is the world is buying an apartment at One Wall?
There is a ton of inventory in FIDI, the location does not work anymore with remote working, it’s insanely expensive and a massive building.
And based upon the pictures the apartments are not that great.
Is that going to sit empty for years?

  2. Thank you for sharing the Twyla video and info. I moved to the city to be a modern dancer and always loved her.

  3. Thanks for Twyla clip. Sent to my sister who is retired modern dancer and danced some with Twyla.
