SUSPECT IN CHRISTINA LEE MURDER IS ARRAIGNED
Assamad Nash, 25, was was arraigned on first-degree charges of murder, burglary and sexually motivated burglary in the death of Christina Yuna Lee, 35, who was found by police in her bathtub with more than 40 stab wounds. Nash, whose last known address was a men’s homeless shelter in the Bowery, followed Lee into the building on Chrystie Street in Chinatown, forced his way into her home and stabbed her. –-The Times

MORE PEOPLE MOVE WAY DOWNTOWN
While other data still shows Fidi with fewer residents, one moving company crunched its numbers and out the more than 35,000 moves they made in 2021, the West Village, Fidi and Battery Park City saw the greatest influx of new residents, while Washington Heights, Hamilton Heights, East Harlem, and Murray Hill saw a greater share of move-outs. Overall, Downtown and West Side neighborhoods attracted more people, while Uptown and East Side neighborhoods drew fewer. —Thrillist

WHAT’S NEXT FOR MCC
Adding to the jails discussion, Crain’s has a story on the Metropolitan Correctional Center, the prison between One Centre and One Police Plaza on Park Row. “Justice Department spokeswoman Kristina Mastropasqua, who said MCC is “temporarily closed,” said officials might decide next year whether to rehabilitate the complex, build anew or permanently house all inmates at the Brooklyn facility. Any option might depend on an appropriation from Congress.”
