Seen & Heard: Star Swedes converge on Tiny’s

RED ROOSTER AT TINY’S
I happened to pass by as Marcus Samuelsson was interviewing Henrik Lundqvist — the star hockey goaltender whose number was retired recently at Madison Square Garden. Lundqvist is a part-owner of Tiny’s and Samuelsson of course is the star chef from Red Rooster in Harlem (and 11 others) and also has a TV show produced with Eater called “No Passport Required.” Maybe it was for that? (Though I don’t think of Tiny’s as multicultural cuisine…) Fun fact: both Lundqvist and Samuelsson are Swedish.

TASTE TIX ARE ON SALE NOW
Taste of Tribeca is back for 2022 after a two-year hiatus — date is Saturday, May 21, 11:30a to 3p — and tickets are now on sale here at Eventbrite. There will be 60 restaurants attending, including a couple newbies like One White Street. Also: no plastic bottles this year. BYO bottle or buy a Taste S’well one.

MORGENSTERN’S NOW SERVING BOOZE
This is a bit far-afield, but if you walk for ice cream as I do and you like cocktails (not my bag so report back) you may like Morgenstern’s Fizzy Bubbly opening in May at Houston and Lafayette. Owner Nick Morgenstern’s new bar will feature fizzes and carbonated beverages — ice cream flavors in cocktail form. They will also serve smashburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, ice creams, and other parlor classics.

SEEING THE LIGHT ON GREENWICH
It was so disorienting walking down Greenwich tonight and seeing the sky for the first time in I-don’t-know-how-long. Who remembers when the sidewalk shed went up on 275 Greenwich?
