Seen & Heard: The expansion of CVS

TWO NEW CVSes, PLUS FULTON
In addition to the CVS on the corner of Church and Warren — which, by the way should open in April — there is also a CVS coming to the former Staples space on Broadway and Vesey. (I had forgotten about that one and a commenter reminded me.) CVS corporate said they do not have any details on that location’s opening, but they said they will continue to operate the Fulton Street location as usual. This is the official word: “I can confirm our lease at 217 Broadway, and we look forward to serving the community in that area of the city. This will be a two-story location, but it’s a bit too early in the process to talk about any other details. We’ve leased 8,600 sf on the ground level of 38 Warren Street with the intention to open a retail location in 2022, and an additional 3,000 sf for storage in the basement.”

TRINITY CHURCH’S 19TH RECTOR
Trinity Church has installed Rev. Phillip A. Jackson as its 19th rector as of a ceremony held on Feb. 26. Jackson has been at the church in other roles since 2015 and earned his B.A. in history, cum laude, from Amherst College; a J.D. from Yale Law School; and an M.Div. from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA. The church is in its fourth century, founded in 1696.

BASEBALL CAMP AT BPC
The BPCA is hosting a Cooperstown Baseball Camp from New York Empire Baseball on Saturday, March 26, from 9a to noon at Rockefeller Park. The program is free but space is limited so register by emailing registration@bpca.ny.gov. NB: For ages 6-10.

TSUNIS CONFIRMED AS AMBASSADOR TO GREECE
George Tsunis, the chair of Battery Park City Authority, was confirmed by the US Senate as the next ambassador to Greece. Tsunis is a first-generation American, a major donor to the Democratic party (obviously) and a resident of Lloyd Harbor on Long Island. The interim BPCA chair will be the vice chair, Martha Gallo.
