Jogger assaulted in the West Village in Hudson River Park

I was trying not to think about this, but enough people sent a note that I figured I have to. It’s just so upsetting and clearly too close for comfort.

A 40-year-old woman jogging in the West Village in Hudson River Park at approximately 6:30a on Sunday, March 27, was sexually assaulted at Pier 45, which is at the end of 10th Street. (The news reports saying that this took place at Pier 40 were incorrect.) There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. This is the full report, with my text in brackets added in for clarity:

“Police responded to a 911 call of a robbery at West 11th Street and Hudson Street, within the confines of the 6 Precinct. Upon arrival, it was reported to police that a 40-year-old female was jogging at [the jogging path in the vicinity of West Street and Charles Lane] when an unknown male approached her and pushed her to the ground. The male then forcibly removed the victim’s cell phone and sexually assaulted her. The male fled the location on a bicycle heading southbound on West Street. The victim was transported [from 11th Street and Hudson] via EMS to Lenox Health Plex Hospital with minor injuries for treatment and evaluation.”

  1. I hadn’t heard about this yet. Very upsetting. I hope the woman is recovering as well as possible. Traumatizing.
