Seen & Heard: Spring openings at the Oculus

IT’S SPRING AT THE OCULUS
The Lower Manhattan version of Smorgasburg opens today and will run every Friday on the Oculus North Plaza from 11 to 7. See the vendors here. And around the corner, the Oculus Beer Garden is also open for the season. I’ve never been able to figure out its operating hours (though there is a happy hour from 4 to 6) but I will get down there for a beer soon and check it out. Never managed to do that last season…

IT’S EASTER AT GRANDAISY
Grandaisy’s head baker is now making their signature Colomba Pasquale — the dove-shaped Italian holiday bread with dark chocolate, candied orange and a crunchy egg white, sugar and toasted almond topping. Like Mallomars, this is only an Easter thang. Available now through Sunday, April 17.

JEFF ZIMMERMAN GLASS AT R & COMPANY
Jeff Zimmerman has “pushed the boundaries of glassmaking for over three decades, producing sculptural objects that actively engage with the experience of light, color and the natural environment.” New work is on view through April 22 at R & Company’s 64 White Street gallery.

KIDS’ GARDENING IN BPC
Battery Park City Parks started there kids gardening series — I am a bit late on this but I think you can still join in. My kids loved this program. Ages 6 to 10 work in the children’s garden at Chambers on Thursdays from 3 to 4. Registration required at: registration@bpca.ny.gov
