Seen & Heard: Washington Market School will host street fair

WASHINGTON MARKET SCHOOL FAIR ON MAY 7
The Washington Market School will hold its long-standing street fair (Philippe Petit waked a tightrope strung across Greenwich Street for the first one in 1986!) on Saturday, May 7, from 11 to 3, on Duane Park. The street will be closed off for the event, which will include musicians, magicians, puppet shows, an inflatable slide, bubbles, live animals, and a food court featuring Laughing Man, Marc Forgione, Chobani, 16 Handles, One White Street, the COUNTER Custom Burgers and Duane Patisserie. SOHO REP PREMIERES VELEZ MELENDEZ
Soho Rep. will present the world premiere of Mara Vélez Meléndez’s “Notes on Killing Seven Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Board Members,” directed by David Mendizábal, from May 17 to June 19. This play is an electrifying drag show about decolonizing places and people, the relationship between Puerto Rico and the US, and the impact of the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act. 9/11 CONNECTION TO BLOOD CANCERS
A. sent this note from Science Daily that a study has proved that 9/11 responders have increased levels of mutations that escalate their risk for blood cancers or cardiovascular disease, according to a study published March 7 in Nature Medicine. Scientists from Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) collaborated with researchers from New York on the study.
