I’ve long wondered why there were no lights on at 19 Park Place — the building next to the now collapsed Tent & Trails. And then this week I got a press release from the PR team representing the real estate brokerage firm Serhant, which was brought in to rebrand the building. Turns out not a single unit has been sold to date. It is now Iris TriBeCa, “paying homage to its tall, slender quality and beauty” and has 21 stories and 24 units ranging from studios to three-bedrooms designed by Ismael Leyva Architects.
I thought that building was completed *before* 21 Park Place collapsed, but it was still under construction — in fact it could be that the construction there destabilized the building next door… Either way, the building was just completed earlier this year after a lot of trials.
Over the years, the building has had a couple identities: 19 Park Place and Tribeca Royale among them. Plans go back as far as 2008. Construction signage first went up on the site in 2012.
